The Heroic Flaw

Solid indeed

Are the cold-faced rocks

That resist the waves of opposition

But such is not the stuff of human endurance,

of substance,

of existence.

A granite foundation

May lay waste to the hero

Of human stature

For better a wounded

Man with a golden heart

Than one who escapes uninjured

With a heart of stone.
