1764-1776!
A Strategic Simulation of the Events which Triggered the Revolution
The object of this simulation is to be able to declare your colony the winner through the accumulation of points. As you will find out in the process of playing the game there are a number of ways to gain and loose points for your colony. You will be competing against 12 other British colonies in North America in an attempt to gain the upper hand economically and politically. Every turn your status/ standing in the British Colonial Empire will be challenged by events which took place in your colony during a particular year. It is up to you and your team to decide how to react to these events. You are an elected leader of the people in your colony and you will end up loosing your position and the respect of the people if you do not act in their best interest. Your job is to cultivate loyal subjects to the mother country (Great Britain), to represent the will of the people of your colony and to increase the wealth of your colony. However, there may come a point when you are tempted to rebel against your mother country due to the dissatisfaction and demands of the citizens of your colony. Rebellion may be the only way to avoid loosing this game! You must be very careful not to offend your King or Parliamentary leadership. Why? Because it will be impossible for you to win this simulation by standing alone against the most powerful empire this world has ever known. You will be crushed without mercy. If you eventually feel that you have no other choice except to rebel, you must first gain the cooperation of all the colonies and together write up a PETITION OF COMPLAINTS to the British government. You must first PEACEFULLY attempt to solve your problems with the British governenment. If your petition fails then you may approach the other colonial leaders with the idea of armed rebellion or political revolution. If ALL 13 colonies agree to declare independence a written letter to the King MUST be composed listing all of the reasons for desiring this separation. This declaration MUST be signed by all the leaders from the colonies. Not following these steps will result in failure! Your GRADE for this simulation depends on accumulating LEADERSHIP POINTS. Yes, you will get a grade for your part in the simulation and it will count as a major test grade.

The Savings column represents the money you start out with for your colony.
The Annual Credit column represents the money you will make per year without making any deals with the British government or other colonies.
The Goal column represents the money required to claim that your colony is a winner in the simulation.
The Citizen Morale column shows two things. The first half of the ratio show how many points your colony can afford to loose before the majority of your citizenry becomes enraged with the British government. The second half shows the critical level--It is the point where you will be kicked out of office by the people of your colony unless you do something immediately!
The Goods to Sell column shows the items you may trade or sell to increase your annual income.
