The Mysterious Death of Woody Cossen

To avoid compromising the mock trial, only limited information about the case may be provided ahead of time.  All of the most important details will be revealed in the course of the investigation in the weeks prior to the mock trial.   However, here are some things that can be revealed:

1.  A group of Bloomsburg University students decided to spend a weekend at a cabin in a sparsly populated area along Catawissa Creek.

2.  During the first evening, while sitting around a campfire, the group heard some peculiar noises in the woods.  A few of the boys went into the dark forrest in search of the source of these sounds.

3.  Many hours later, when the group of boys came back to the cabin, one of them, Woody Cossen, is not among them.

4.  The boys came back to the cabin in an extremely confused and disoriented state of mind.  Those who were lucent enough to talk coherently claimed to have been "abducted by aliens(?)."

5.  Woody's failure to return to the camp with the others convinced the others to call the local police.

6.  The police arrived at the scene around daybreak the next morning and conducted a search of the entire area.  During the search Woody Cossen's dead body was found, lieing face down in the water, at creek's edge.  Cossen had apparently fallen (?) from a precipice some time during the night.

7.  Police and investigators immediately suspected foul play.
